The Carlisle Iron Works, one of the earliest blast furnaces in Pennsylvania was located near the springs. The remains of the original blast furnace still stands in the public park. The village has many handsome homes, some fronting on the lake. In 1984, Boiling Springs was placed on the National Register of Historic Places. The area is alive with activities. The lake and the crystal clear Yellow Breeches creek are well stocked and are considered some of the best trout fishing areas in the country. The nearby Yellow Breeches Fly Shop handles fishing gear, locally tied flys, clothing and gifts as well as dispensing experienced tips for the novice or practiced fisherman. The famous Allenberry Resort and Playhouseon the Yellow Breeches is just minutes away for an evening of fine dining and entertainment. Boiling Springs is located within one-half hours drive to Gettysburg, one hours drive to Hershey, and approximately 1 and a half hours from the Pennsylvania Dutch Country in Lancaster County. It is truly a beautiful spot for a pleasant visit. The ducks are famous for nesting in local yards and marching their hatch to the lake in the Spring.
